NBTA 2026

Code of Conduct

Last updated: May 2026. By participating in NBTA, you agree to uphold the standards set out below.

1. Purpose

The Nakuru Business & Talent Awards ("NBTA") celebrates excellence with integrity. This Code of Conduct sets the standards expected of everyone who participates in the awards — nominees, voters, sponsors, partners, volunteers, staff, jury members, and guests.

2. Our Core Values

Respect: treat every person with dignity, regardless of background, gender, religion, ability, ethnicity, or status.

Integrity: compete and participate honestly. Let the work speak for itself.

Fairness: give every nominee and category an equal playing field.

Excellence: hold the awards, and yourselves, to the highest professional standard.

3. Expected Behavior

Communicate professionally and courteously in all NBTA channels — online and in person.

Represent yourself, your business, and your achievements truthfully.

Credit collaborators and partners where credit is due.

Cooperate with NBTA staff and jury during reviews, verifications, and the awards event.

4. Unacceptable Behavior

Harassment, intimidation, bullying, or discrimination of any kind.

Hate speech, threats, or incitement against any individual or group.

Vote manipulation, including bots, scripts, fake accounts, coordinated fraud, or buying votes outside the official M-Pesa voting flow.

Bribery, undue influence, or improper contact with jury members.

False, defamatory, or misleading statements about NBTA, other nominees, sponsors, or partners.

Unauthorized use of the NBTA name, logo, or trademarks.

Any unlawful conduct, including violations of Kenyan law.

5. Online Conduct

When campaigning for votes or engaging audiences online, do so honestly. Do not impersonate others, spread misinformation, or harass rival nominees or their supporters.

Public criticism is welcome; personal attacks are not.

6. Event Conduct

At NBTA events, follow venue rules, security instructions, and the directions of NBTA staff.

Alcohol consumption, where available, must be responsible. Driving under the influence and any form of violence are strictly prohibited.

Dress code and protocol announcements communicated by NBTA must be respected.

7. Reporting Violations

If you experience or witness a violation of this code, report it to the NBTA secretariat through the official contact channels on our website.

Reports will be handled confidentially. Retaliation against anyone who reports a concern in good faith is itself a violation of this code.

8. Consequences

Violations may result in warnings, removal from the platform or venue, disqualification of nominations, forfeiture of votes (without refund), revocation of awards already granted, and reporting to relevant authorities where required.

NBTA's decisions in enforcing this code are final.

9. Scope

This code applies to all NBTA-related activities, including the website, voting platform, social channels, official events, and any communication carried out in connection with the awards.
