Voter data: phone number used for M-Pesa, vote count, transaction reference, and timestamp.

Account data: name, email address, and authentication identifiers when you sign in.

To administer nominations, voting, judging, and the awards event.

To process M-Pesa payments and reconcile votes with confirmed transactions.

To communicate with nominees, voters, sponsors, and partners about the awards.

4. Legal Basis

We process personal data under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019, on the basis of your consent, the performance of our obligations to you, our legitimate interests in running the awards fairly, and compliance with the law.

5. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal data.

We share data only with: Safaricom (for M-Pesa processing), our hosting and database providers under strict confidentiality, the independent jury where relevant to judging, and authorities where required by law.

6. Data Retention

We retain nomination, voting, and transaction records for as long as necessary to operate the current awards cycle, publish results, resolve disputes, and meet legal and accounting obligations.

Account data is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, request correction or deletion, object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner of Kenya.
